By car
From the North on Salzburg Tauern motorway A 10 towards Bischofshofen, take the Gastein Valley exit 47, follow the B 311 up to Lend, and take a left turn on B167 towards Bad Hofgastein-Bad Gastein.
From the South, drive via Villach, Spittal, Möllbrücke and Obervellach to Mallnitz and from there take the Motorail train through the Tauerntunnel to reach Bad Gastein. There is one train every hour.

Intercity, fast and express trains (eg, a direct connection Hamburg-Gastein) connect Bad Gastein to the whole of Europe.
By plane
The nearest airports are those of Salzburg (1 hour away), Klagenfurt (1,5 hours away/via Mallnitz and Tauernschleuse) and Munich (3 hours away).
